I made an area for Whiskey to play in while we were outside building a cage for the new Quails we planned to get. She dug little holes in the ground, and binkied with joy. I had to be careful with her digging because it was the area at the side of the house where we had just planted grass seeds on, but she didn’t make a huge mess she was just playing.
Then it happened… Coco came to visit. This was the very first time Whiskey had met Coco in person… or cat. They had seen each other through the window plenty of times, but this was a first.
In typical cat fashion, Coco pretended to be disinterested. But we all knew he was curious.
I jumped into Whiskey’s pen just in case something happened and I had to save her.
Coco wandered up, patrolled the fence and moved away.
I don’t know much about cats, but he seemed calm and had positive behaviours.
Whiskey on the other hand was curious, playful and not scared.
Coco watched with his typical kitty all-knowingness, and Whiskey came over to tell me all about her new encounter.
Neither animal was showing any distress or discomfort. They were both calm and well behaved.
I was concerned that Coco would stalk or pounce, or even jump over the pen fence, but he didn’t. He stayed on his side and Whiskey stayed on her side.
They got closer together and Whiskey stuck her nose through the fence.
Coco just watched.
Then they booped noses!
Coco was a really good boy.
Whiskey wanted to play.
For a few minutes they both ran up and down the fence playing.
I think they will be fine together.
