Since I gave Chester’s bed to my sister for the Guinea Pigs, I lost the bottom tub to wash the carpets in. I had to wash each one separately instead of putting them all in container to soak in disinfectant. That meant I used a lot more water and disinfectant. I really needed to find an alternative.
I looked into getting a replacement tub, or something similar, but they were too expensive – at $250+ each. That’s roughly the same price as Chester’s bed itself when I got it.
Then one day, I was fiddling around on Amazon and I came across this.
It was the correct dimensions for the carpets, as they are 1m2. It was flexible, so I could pack it away when I’m not using it. It was deep enough to splash water around and wash the carpets properly…
You guessed it, I got one.
It came in a box with only Chinese instructions. This was one of the complaints on the Amazon page – people couldn’t figure out how to put it together without English instructions…In the box came the two side pieces, six legs, four corners (one shown in the picture), there were also t-pieces to help the poles connect together.Also, in the box was the folded bathtub. It felt like thick waterproof canvas.I placed the frame together.I had to be careful when feeding the pipes and corners through the holes, because it was easy to push out the middle layers of the canvas.Now for the legs…Bath tub complete!Here’s an internal view.Inside, there are two plugs. Make sure that they are closed before adding water!Now to test it out.In go the carpets. Perfect fit!Draining is easy with the collapsible pipe, but I choose to tip the tub over and let the water out all at once. It’s faster, and because I’m outside, it waters the grass.The exterior canvas does become damp, but it didn’t leak. So I left the tub to dry in the sun – careful not to leave it out too long because it could start to disintegrate. I’m not sure if it is UV resistant.In the box, you also get two blow up cushions, a blue pump and the collapsible drainage pipe.
