There are always hot days around New Years. Usually it is the night of the 31st December, which gives great viewing of fireworks over Melbourne and Sydney.
But for bunnies, anything over 16°C (environmental temperature – the type of temperature you get naturally in the environment) makes Buttons hot. Maple and Lunar get hot when it’s over 18°C. Chester, well, I’m not sure yet. Let’s say it’s the same as Lunar and Maple at 18°C.
While, 18°C from the air conditioner is much cooler than environmental 18°C, I guess because it is manufactured air.
We had a couple of days of upwards of 36°C just before New Years that really knocked everyone around. The hottest day was 38°C and the temperature at night was going to be 27°C.
My sister decided to keep the air conditioner on over night to keep the house cool, it was set at 20°C.
Even though I wrapped their cages up over night to limit the amount of cold air blowing on them, Lunar and Maple had really cold ears in the morning. Buttons was a comfortable temperature, and Chester was a little on the cold side, but comfortable.
