Pet Crates

I purchased this Rapid Mesh crate and it works really well. The sides are sturdy, and the door locks are aligned really well.

I removed the clips on the top (on one side) so that the top became and opening, saving me time bending down and adjusting the doors each time I wanted to get a bunny out of it. I had to hold the sides together with cable ties.

The little wire handles are pretty flimsy. I don’t use them when I shift the crate outside for two reasons:

1. The crate lid would open I’ve made the top an opening
2. They are in an awkward position.

The tray inside is really good quality, and it is a good size. It’s easy to keep clean.

I also purchased the Anko Folding Pet Crate to keep Maple and Lunar safe while they were staying at my sisters house. It is a good quality crate.

I also removed some of the clips on the top to make it a lid.

I like how the door swivelling latches are bent on the ends to make sure the doors are locked shut. The RapidMesh crate doesn’t have this, they are straight pins.

Warning

The door latches on the longer side have trouble matching up with the locking mechanisms, but there is an easy fix – lift the door up a little when closing it.

The tray melted in the sun, within 5 minutes. It was only a 18^o C day. I couldn’t be bothered washing it, and I just threw it in the bin.
