This is how it was set up. The gap between the two areas was about 30cm.
In the morning I decided to put Lunar and Maple in the Omlet enclosure, and set Buttons up his fence with a small area so he can see the babies. Like a viewing deck.
Buttons ran around and showed off to the babies. Then he would go to the viewing deck and lay down, watching them. If the babies were close to the viewing deck, Buttons would come over to sniff them.
Buttons had a good day looking at Maple and Lunar. He ran up and down the fence, and ate lots of grass and showed off.
Lunar fell in love with Buttons, and Buttons switched on his Casanova personality again. He is in love with Lunar. Maple did his own thing, but always watched Buttons.

Altercation
Later that night, I was making friends with Buttons, apologising for the time I was away. He was upset with me and unforgiving. He didn’t like me and I got the bum-in-the-face treatment with a side-eye glare.
I needed to spend time with him to make sure he knew that I still loved him. I laid down on the floor next to his cage and patted him through the bars. He chose to ignore me, which is a good sign.
After a while I opened the door and patted him at his level. He smelled my forehead and I got his whiskers in my eye. He suddenly leaped out of his cage and decided that free roaming was the ultimate goal. He ran around the living area, binkying until he came across Maple and Lunar’s cage. He smelled the scent and wanted to rip them apart. He grunted and snorted. He clamped onto the cage wire with his teeth and pulled. He couldn’t get to the babies, but it scared them tremendously.
Buttons let go of the wire and raced off back to his cage. My family bundled him into his cage, while I calmed down the babies.
They were running around in circles, pulling each other’s hair out. They were both equally as scared as each other. I reached in, someone bit me a little, and I lifted Lunar out. She was squeaking. I cuddled her and she fell asleep on my chest. Maple was left in the cage by himself for a few minutes, he settled down pretty quickly. Once Lunar woke up, after about 20 minutes, I popped her back in the cage with Maple, and picked Maple up. He snuggled me for about 15 minutes. I then popped him back and the bunnies were happy to be with each other again.
They both fell asleep on their pink cushion and didn’t wake up until about 30 minutes later.
Buttons had already settled down and was asleep.
That was not the world’s perfect meeting for the bunnies. We can only see how it goes in the future.
