The weather was cold and windy, not bunny friendly at all, so Buttons and Nova were stuck inside. Luckily, I had prepared for yuck weather and I had purchased more of these balls. Last time I gave these to the bunnies, they loved them.
I also got some of these stickles. I thought they might be a hit because of the herbs, although I wasn’t 100% sold on the idea. Turns out, the bunnies love the stickles, I ended up pulling the pointless plastic stick out of the middle. I also broke them into quarters, because one stick would be too big for a single treat.
Their bond is developing really well. They love being together, although when Buttons gets hungry he chases Nova away. I have to make sure that when he is doing that, he gets some food. When he is full, he is soft, loving and cuddly. But when he is hungry, he is grumpy. He is usually like that in the morning, because his metabolism wants food at about 6am, but I don’t get up until 7-7:30am, so he gets grumpy.
I’m thinking about getting an automatic feeder with a timer, so I can get it to spit food out at about 5:30am, and he can have his fill and hopefully he won’t be so grumpy in the morning.
I was thinking about an auto-feeder like this one. Then again, family members are up through the night and are happy to put food on the bunny’s plate at around 5am.
We tried the 5am feed, and although the bunnies weren’t used to it, they loved the food and Buttons was really affectionate towards Nova when I got up in the morning. I decided that I don’t want to start feeding the bunnies at 5 in the morning, because it will become a necessity and they will rely on it. So, instead I started giving them some more pellets just before I go to bed. That way they gan nibble them when they are up during the night. That seemed to work really well, because the bunnies have had their pellets for dinner, so they aren’t hungry right then and won’t want them. But they find them when they start getting hungry early in the morning.
