We decided to get Mushroom a friend from the same breeder. The new batch of rat pups were super cute. Because Mushroom is male, it’s best to get another male rat, unless you want more rats.
I immediately fell in love with the white male that had black spots. He reminded me of Buttons.
We named him Patch. He was 4.5 weeks old, which makes his birthday around the 4th of June.
He was so small, soft and scared.
I left him in his box for a while, but he looked lonely. He was missing his siblings. So, in my typical zero-cares fashion, I picked up Mushroom and popped him in the box.
After smelling each other’s bottoms, they settled down and became friends.
It is so much easier bonding rat pups than rabbits.
I gave them some beef mince to chew on. Of course Mushroom ate both bits. Patch had never had food like that before, so he smelled it and gave it a nibble, but he left it alone.
After a while I put them both in the cage.
Mushroom gladly showed Patch around.
