Tuesday 3rd January was the day that I packed everything in the car and headed back home.
Packing the car was interesting, I had to find a way to pack everything in a small car. I had figured out that I needed another carry box for Lunar, so I had got another one – that was the easy part.
I left the bunnies in their boxes for about 10 minutes so they became comfortable with being in it for the 2.5 hour journey home.
I didn’t have any space in the boot. I jammed all of the blankets, toys, cages, and other things in the boot, along with the 8 new Zeta carpet tiles, Buttons’ fence and anything that fitted in gaps.
Looking in the back door, I had to make sure the bunnies were safe in their carry boxes, as they sat on everything beneath them. I also had to put things on top of them. Poor squished bunnies
Lunar, Maple and Buttons were on the back seat, and Chester was on the front seat.
I really needed a removal van, but I fitted everything in except for the jute mat – which we decided should be thrown out because Lunar sprayed all over it. I had layers of EVA tiles on the seats, which was covered by the pens, 2 carpet tiles that Chester had been using, then the bunnies in their boxes on top. I ended up moving the washing basket from the top of the bunnies, to on top of Chester on the front seat, because it slid around too much around bends in the road.
Home Again
Buttons, the Little Ones and I had been gone for over a month to stay at my sisters. Once we arrived home I left the bunnies in their carry boxes for about 15 minutes with a bowl of water each so they can calm themselves down after the stressful trip home.
I made makeshift pens for them and left them outside for about an hour. They were happy to be outside and home, even if it was for a little while. They could only be out for about an hour because the sandflies were slowly coming out for the night. I didn’t want the little bugs to bite my bunnies.
Once Buttons was in the pen his behaviour changed, he clearly remembered the property. He became happy and his old self again.
When I set up their pens inside that evening, Buttons remembered being in the office and his little spot in the world for the night. He actually was happy and he binkied in his pen.
After a month away, he remembered home. What a memory!
