Nova and I always get extra active when we sense it’s time to pack up for the day. We nibble on grass, keeping an eye on her as she goes about her tasks – preparing our litter box, gathering our belongings, and packing up our toys and tunnels. Our eyes are always fixed on her, ensuring we don’t get in her way.
We adore the late afternoon, it’s our favourite “bunny time”, when our energy peaks. It’s when we’re naturally most active. But unfortunately, that’s when she needs to bring us inside for the night, and of course, we’re not too keen on the idea of being picked up and taken indoors.
When she does try to pick us up, we hop away, clearly indicating that we’re not ready. We’re not trying to be naughty; we’re just behaving like typical bunnies during our active time. So, she devised a solution: the “Corner.”
It’s a simple structure, two fence panels blue EVA tiles clipped onto them. When we see it, we know what’s coming.
Sometimes we try to evade her, but she never chases us. She waits patiently until we come to a complete stop. We watch her every move, and then she gently guides us into the corner.
Occasionally, we’ll test the boundaries of the corner, but we quickly realise it’s pointless. Once we’re in the corner, we settle down, understanding that it’s time to go inside.
The corner has been a brilliant invention. It doesn’t frighten us; instead, it helps us understand that it signals bedtime.
