A few days passed and Buttons had forgiven me for my sins. I clearly repented enough for him to let me cuddle him. He wasn’t very big on being patted ot cuddled, but he loved being in a burrito.
Buttons ran around and showed off to the babies. Then he would go to the viewing deck and lay down, watching them. If the babies were close to the viewing deck, Buttons would come over to sniff them.
It was disgusting weather outside – 90km winds, rain at all angles and belts of hail the size of bunny poops. I had no choice but to keep the bunnies inside and warm. The only problem was Maple and Lunar were wrecking everything. They had to expend energy.
I covered the enclosure with the shade cloth, which stopped the wind and the rain getting through. It was a peaceful and tranquil place for young ones.
They spent about 3 hours in there. I checked them every 10 minutes and they were having so much fun. Eating grass, running around and binking. They were so tired when I brought them back inside, they immediately fell asleep and were still tired in the morning

Buttons on the other hand couldn’t go outside for long because he also needed the shade cloth, but I didn’t want to set his pen up near the babies. Even though I did put him outside for a little while, with a tarp over the top, he got cold. I brought him in and played games with him.
I wrapped him up in the burrito blanket and played peek-a-boo with him. “Where’s Buttons… there he is…” He loved that. It made him happy. So happy in fact, that when I put him back in his cage, he wanted to be sandwiched between the towel and burrito blanket we had played with.
Every evening Buttons and I have a burrito snuggle and play Where’s Buttons?. He loves it so much and looks forward to it. He has decided that he wants to play Where’s Buttons? before he settles down to eat his dinner. Then he wants another game about an hour later. He always falls asleep and puts his weight against my arm. He asks to go back to his bed by nipping the blanket, but that can take anywhere between 30 and 45 minutes before he wants to go back.

Because Buttons loves his burrito blanket so much I leave it hanging over the pen fence for the day. One day in late November he decided that he loved his blanket so much that he pulled it to the ground and laid curled up in it. I found him asleep curled up like a burrito and loving every second of it.
I played a game of Where’s Buttons? with him and he found a bounce in his step that he had never had before. He was playing with me like a puppy. He ran around and I dropped the blanket on him, he would stop and be really still. I’d ask “Where’s Buttons? Anyone seen Buttons?” and he would wait.
Once I was quiet again he would wriggle and poke his nose out of the blanket and start running again. This went on for about 15 minutes. Then the rules changed. I held the blanket and waved it at him like a Matador, Buttons ran towards the blanket like a charging bull and would take a flying leap at the blanket. I’d drop the blanket in such a way that he was covered in it. I’d then grab him through the blanket and scruffle him up. He would crawl out and wait for the game to repeat.

Raging bull Buttons… ready to pounce.

“Where’s Buttons?.. Oh, there he is…”
