Well, I packed up the bunnies, the little ones were on the back seat in their carry box, and Buttons was on the front seat in his carry box, and we went back to my sister’s house at the end of November.
I packed everything my bunnies needed, from cleaning supplies through to 8 sections of the pen for Buttons to run around in. My car was jammed full of rabbit stuff, and one bag of clothes for me.
It was a warmish day, about 22 degrees, and my air con in my car doesn’t work too well. I had to manage air flow in the car as I traveled, hoping the bunnies wouldn’t overheat. I had the air con on as much as I could, and I wound the windows down in places where I was going slow to let cool fresh air into the car.
I had covered their boxes with their blankets, to keep the bunnies dark and quiet. I gave them plenty of hay and kept a good eye on them all the way.
Buttons stresses easily, with anything, so I had to keep more of an eye on him. He ate most of his hay on the way and started to get hot about 30 minutes away from my sister’s house. That was tolerable because the air started to become cooler as we reached the hills and being able to go slow meant I could have the noisy windows down to circulate more air.
Once I arrived in the late afternoon, I left the bunnies for a while in their carry crates, but inside the house. That way I could set up their cages.
I was going to go shopping in the morning to get them more supplies, so the bunnies had to only be in their cages for the night.
I knew it wasn’t perfect, but it’s the best I could do.
I had blue EVA interlocking tiles that the little bunnies use, I wanted to get some more for Buttons. So, in the morning, I went shopping and got some avery mesh and searched high and low for the EVA tiles. I ended up finding black ones in a completely different place in the hardware.
In the morning, it looked like the little ones had a poop party and Buttons devoured some of the EVA tile. I hope he didn’t swallow it.
